Originating in China and Tibet<\/strong>, the J-Chin is introduced to Japan around 732 A.D., when the Korean rulers of the Silla dynasty donated the progenitors of this breed to the imperial court of the Rising Sun. In Japan, these dogs became so successful that they were revered as sacred animals<\/strong>. At the Emperor’s behest, they were employed as small lap dogs<\/strong> in Edo Castle and were greatly appreciated by the ladies. It is assumed that the first specimens were brought to Europe by Portuguese navigators around 1600<\/strong>. In 1853, an American naval officer imported the first<\/strong> known J-Chin specimens to the U.S.<\/strong>, received as gifts from the Japanese Emperor. This breed quickly became a high society lounge dog in both Europe and the US<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The J-Chin is small in size<\/strong>, with a height at withers that can vary between 18 and 29 cm<\/strong>. Our J-Chins range in weight from 3 kg to a maximum of 3.8 kg as adults<\/strong>. It possesses unique details such as a coat that is long, soft, dense, smooth and silky<\/strong>, giving it a sympathetic and elegant appearance. The head is relatively large, with a broad, round skull<\/strong>. In J-Chin, the most common colors are white and black<\/strong>, making it extremely attractive, but there are also various shades of red, lemon or sand<\/strong>. His eyes are large and dark<\/strong>, giving an appearance of great tenderness.<\/p>\n They are intelligent, affectionate and lively<\/strong>. They use their paws to wipe their faces<\/strong> and are cuddly and affectionate<\/strong>. They play boundlessly with young and old alike and is a family-friendly dog<\/strong>. They do not bite and bark very<\/strong> little, with a very moderate tone<\/strong>.
